When I was new to working at the Superdrug warehouse, I did not even imagine that I would come to know so much about working as a team, responsibility, and the importance of efficiency. I joined a fast-paced environment for more than two years, where all the activities, such as picking and packing orders, loading stock, among others, were significant to the running of the business.
Starting out
The first time I worked there, I had FedEx experience on warehouse operations. All of my initial stages were connected with learning the systems, voice recording to the talk-man, understanding the workflow, and orienting myself to the fast-paced environment. It was not long before I knew the importance of each detail, such as picking the right items that would fit in the totes and cages and stacking pallets safely. Working on tight deadlines helped me to manage my time properly and stay calm in case of pressure.
What a Typical Day Looked Like
A safety check, performance goals and task assignments began each shift. After four months, when I was learn driving MHE (LLOP ) then I should check the pre-use book of LLOP and assess is it safely driving today? When I assured them at the time, I got the signature of authorisation of my superior and began my day. I had to pick and pack the products, replenish the shelves, perform my duties, and also listen to audio from the inventory digital systems. All tasks were important since any little error would delay orders or affect stock accuracy.
Teamwork and Growth when I joined the cage build under dispatch
What I appreciated most about working at Superdrug was the teamwork. Everyone supported each other, especially I realized while I joined the cage build under dispatch. During this period, I need to prepare equipment for pickers delivering to the sections and tipping the trailer by using MHE (BEAST) to deliver the stock to different departments. During this time every each member helped me, also I often helped new team members learn the ropes and made sure our section stayed organised. These experiences helped me grow not only as a warehouse operative but also as a communicator and problem solver.
Lessons I take forward
This job taught me more than just warehouse skills; it's shown me discipline, reliability, and pride in my field. It's understandable to me how important every role is in the supply chain and how much effort is going into ensuring customers get what they need on time.
After two years at Superdrug, I feel confident taking up new challenges in logistics, operations, or supply chain management. The experience gave me a strong foundation and ethic that I’ll deliver into each future possibility.
